In a unexpected crossover event that challenges usual expectations, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Revealed

According to the formal release, "An unusual confrontation pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of prohibited practices and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The plot features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine cult.

The adventure concentrates on "peculiar tests and a monstrous foe" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Transformations

The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview concludes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Additional Material

Players who finish the quest will receive an unique katana in addition to multiple objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Addition

This patch also brings the game's third no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive skills: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime franchises. The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
