An individual who laced treats with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer program in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males both nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up fell ill at the location in July.
The 76-year-old, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.
However, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.
The defendant was kept in jail ahead of a further hearing on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "sweet game" with the children, the prosecutor explained, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the young males "repeatedly", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had suspicions in recently.
The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his family member had worries about the activities, for good reason.
"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC explained materials including infant oil, Vaseline and syringes were discovered, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She stated the man proceeded to engage in the "sweet game" with six boys that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"The police had not responded by that time," she stated further.
The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The legal representative explained the children were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the police again.
She stated Ruben then played the "candy game" in a space of five children.
